Cuevas - Quality Education builds and shapes an educational environment

Written by: Jyro Jemver A. Cuevas

Julie Payette states that education "is the foundation of all we do in life. It shapes who we are and what we aspire to be." According to this quotation, education shapes who we are. We can realize our entire potential as people when we get an education. It enhances our human attributes, including behavior, and thinking. So, what is the difference between quality education and education, then? And for what reason is a good education crucial? Learning and study is roots of education. Then, what is the true meaning of having “quality education”? Does it only mean that, students who are achieving academic success receives quality education? Meaningful learning is achieved through quality education. It enhances your creativity and lets your critical thinking come to life. As it plays a vital part in their development, this also guarantees that students learn in a community and well-resourced study environment. Reflecting to the question made me have a concept that receiving quality education does not only help them be a better person; it also makes the society and the environment better.

My personal experience indicates that the last school I attended lacked basic amenities like labs and libraries. As a result, we passed up numerous educational possibilities. Another challenge is Weak Leadership. In addition to decreasing learning, incompetent leadership shows a great deal of irresponsibility. A student's educational environment can be facilitated by broad and exceptional assistance. My school was considered among the candidates for a leadership failure because school administrators would abruptly cancel events and instead of entrusting the SSG with handling the situation. It was quite difficult for us as members of the SSG at my former school when they would assign us tasks to complete without our knowledge. How could an irresponsible educational leader hope to advance the standard of education if they are the one in charge? The school system in the Philippines is reputed to be tainted. According to reports, in 2022, the country's basic education system ranked poorly worldwide in terms of students' proficiency in science, math, and reading. The Philippines has yet to attain high-quality education for a variety of reasons. The absence of infrastructure is one of them. The government has a one-year total budget. Nevertheless, they keep using money for purposes unrelated to improving education in this nation. This primarily impacts rural areas without schools, which contributes to the absence of schools. My observations on social media lead me to believe that the Philippines' schools are devoid of classrooms and other essentials. Instead of building schools in remote places where access to non-urban life is limited, the government allocates its funds to inhabited areas. I've observed more students in a small, rural school with greater learning capacity. I spent thirteen years of my childhood at the same school, which made me think that my school was not receiving high-quality instruction. We were lacking facilities, chairs, and other essentials. We were deprived of numerous educational opportunities, like conducting experiments in a science lab or participating in sports in a gymnasium, due to the deficiency of supplies. To guarantee high-quality education, the government must supply the essentials like chairs, lab equipment, books, and much more.

Lack of pay is another issue that both educators and students must deal with. It is quite common for Filipinos living in the Philippines to travel abroad in search of employment. Here, teachers are underpaid. The teacher becomes less motivated to work as a result. In the Philippines, these significant obstacles make it harder to obtain a high-quality education unless the government takes action. Another thing I can relate to is how, at our former school, a large number of teachers retired because they were underpaid and mistreated. They were made to work long hours, especially overtime, as teachers, but in exchange they received poor pay and cruel treatment. The government would just disregard it even if we raised awareness of it through social media sharing or protests. Encouraging high-quality education makes it possible for society to understand what it means. Their opinions may differ depending on whether or not they received a high-quality education. Encouraging high-quality education might result in a population with greater knowledge, which would boost productivity and economic growth. The educational background could potentially lead to a higher acceptance rate for the employment. This fosters creativity and innovation by encouraging the generation of fresh concepts. The reduction of crime rates is one result of promoting high-quality education. Because educated people are less likely to be interested in committing crimes, crime rates may be lower.

In the current generation. Having to deal with technology is quite common. It is said that technology makes life easier for people. However, what role does technology play in influencing high-quality education? Science is one of the academic subjects. Experimentation is a fundamental component of science. An experiment must take place in a laboratory to be conducted. Technology-based tools like microwaves and microscopes make up a laboratory. The students can increase their understanding of experimenting thanks to this technology. Additionally, it encourages students to experiment with various lab-based technologies. However, there are differences in how technology is used to affect the quality of education. One advantage is that it makes education more accessible. It was anticipated that schools will close during the outbreak. Online learning has become a popular alternative to traditional classroom settings. Education did not end because of technology—cell phones, specifically—but rather continued. Educational games can also be a benefit to add entertainment value to the learning process. Playing educational games can inspire students to participate and learn. It conveys an innovative approach to teaching. It's not unusual for a teacher to launch an instructional game here at USJR. They make a fun game in which us students can take part. This encourages us to engage in entertaining learning and interaction. Through collaboration tools like Google Classroom or any other software, technology also fosters teamwork. This encourages students to collaborate on projects and ideas. Being overly dependent on technology is a major disadvantage when it comes to high-quality education. AI is one instance of this. We just leave everything to A.I. as we all know that having too much homework is exhausting. However, students become less productive as a result of this conduct. Additionally, it makes students reliant on artificial intelligence, which makes them either fail academic exams or go completely dark. It is our right as students to be dissatisfied with the quality of education provided by our government. Because our future selves are shaped by the quality of our schooling. Encouraging high-quality education will undoubtedly contribute to the development of a community with high-quality education. In my opinion, I would volunteer for any educational initiative. Using my knowledge to tutor and mentor other students will enable me to better assist them. Another would be to get involved with organizations or campaigns that support communities that don't truly receive high-quality education. The reason these concepts of promoting high-quality education are important is that people need to understand that not all parts of the community receive high-quality education. We must also approach the matter with the appropriate perspective. Not all of us receive the quality education we would like. Poor education can completely shatter the hopes of some people. In summary, high-quality instruction need to be required in all schools. The government ought to investigate the possibility that providing their citizens with a top-notch education would secure their future. A person with a poor education would be undeveloped, while one with a good education would indicate a bright future.

To sum up, everyone deserves access to a quality education. This is essential to creating a wonderful community in addition to being about learning. As I mentioned before, a quality education emphasizes a person's personal growth; in the absence of this, the population would be unfit for the future generations to live in. Because a community with access to high-quality education fosters emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and a polite atmosphere. Finally, do you ever question whether you are receiving a high-quality education?
