In a world of continuous evolution, quality education stands at the forefront as the foundation to produce our community's pillars. Quality education is what I need the most, It is what everybody needs the most. It is that key that opens a door towards promulgating a progressive community without casting a shadow. Despite all efforts to institute quality education, some are deprived of basking in the light by the stains that hinder its glow but some will fight to see the light.
USJ-R has shaped my understanding of what truly quality education is. I was part of the St. Ezekiel Moreno Pre-school (SEMPS), a program that allows children who cannot gain access to private education to have an experience here in USJ-R. With God’s grace, I became one of the sole witnesses of the school’s “Quality Christian Community-Oriented Education” as their chosen scholar. My elementary days in USJ-R were filled with experiences being equipped with a myriad of knowledge and skills through having a wholesome learning environment with their teachers and programs. I soon realized that quality education is where students experience an education that supports their holistic development not only by learning but also in other aspects that allow them to be all-rounders.
Quality Education is achievable. However, in this economy, the chances of instituting quality education are lowered by major obstacles. With the lack of support from the government and appreciation by society, educators are often paid below their worth which results in some of them transferring to jobs that lessens the population of potential exemplar educators. Learners are no exception to challenges, due to different learners having different thinking capacities, and with our country's stereotypical standards and biases, learners who don’t fit into their ideals are often marginalized and left out. Learners can have a hard time experiencing quality education especially if they are faced with an educator on a substandard level or someone who doesn’t teach out of passion. These existing factors kill the total meaning of quality education and potentially slow the progress of society and the economy.
When the obstacles are conquered and quality education is pursued, it creates a significant positive impact, not only on the country but also on the world. Learners who experience quality education are equipped with the proper set of knowledge that allows them to excel in their chosen endeavors. They will also be driven by inspiration that allows them to pursue their chosen careers despite the prejudice they face. Take Mayor Gerald Anthony "Samsam" Vargas Gullas Jr. for example, he is the current mayor of Talisay City. With the quality education he encountered, he was able to lift Talisay City and create infrastructures and programs that help the citizens. It is without a doubt that quality education can significantly change people and those people can significantly change the community or maybe the world.
Due to the rapid expansion of technological evolution, the process of education has been made easy throughout the globe. It has been made flexible, especially in the crisis of the pandemic where online classes are implemented. The concept of Learning Management systems is instituted for asynchronous classes. Teachers can effortlessly create learning materials online through Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, or Canva and students can access various information online for their studies. However, with the country’s slow internet, both educators and learners can have internet problems especially went it comes to online and asynchronous classes. Additionally, the rising popularity of AI, or Artificial Intelligence, has become a problem for teachers since students can use it to cheat in their school work. Despite its positive impact on the aspect of learning some drawbacks must be addressed to not hinder the quality of education.
To contribute to the rapid expansion of quality education, I can set myself as an example for other people to follow. I can donate to local learning institutions that require financial help to encourage the improvement of their facilities. I can collaborate with schools to create scholarship programs for learners who require financial aid. I can volunteer to give talks and lectures in my area of expertise to educators so they can expound their knowledge. With these methods, I can make a macro impact as an individual in the aspect of the progression of quality education.
As a student, I have experienced the significance of quality education throughout the years. It is the pathway to a much brighter future with a more progressive society and economy. USJ-R was able to shape my understanding of quality education which is the type of experience where learners are educated for their holistic development. With the country still progressing, the quest for quality education is often faced with various challenges that hinder achieving quality education. However, if those challenges are conquered learners can greatly contribute to society and the economy. The experience of quality education is greatly enhanced due to today’s technology through the creation of learning materials and class methods alternatives. Although its influence has been helpful, the usage of AI still needs to be addressed. I can also promote quality education through partnerships and volunteerism at local institutions to create an impact and be a model to others. The fire of quality education will burn bright as long as we fuel it and hold it up high together.
